More features on the Riksbank’s website

The Riksbank’s website has this week been updated with a new structure, new design and a better search engine. One of the aims of the update has been to create a more vibrant home page with more features. Another aim is that the user should find the website easy to navigate and be able to find, for instance, interest rates, exchange rates and educational material. Another new feature is that each of the Executive Board members has their own page which contains information about the speeches and articles they have published while at the Riksbank.

”Since the website is our most important channel for spreading information about what we do at the Riksbank and why, we must develop it continuously. With the changes made this week we will have a website that better corresponds to visitors’ requirements,” says Pernilla Meyersson, Director of Communications.

A new series entitled “Economic Commentaries” is also presented on the website. The series will for instance include brief investigations and debate pieces. ”Economic Commentaries” will be published approximately once a month. The first article is on how one can measure resource utilisation in the economy.

”This is an opportunity for both members of the Executive Board and other officials at the Bank to publish in their own names analyses in subjects that are relevant to the Riksbank’s operations,” says Pernilla Meyersson.

The Riksbank is also launching a new database of Swedish historical monetary statistics. Some ten researchers in Stockholm, Göteborg and Lund have contributed with data series ranging from the Middle Ages up to the present day. Among other things, the database contains a CPI series that goes back to the 13th century and a stock market index from the beginning of the 20th century. There are also historical series on the money supply, interest rates, exchange rates, wages and Government loans. During the spring comprehensive bank statistics will also be available via the new database.
