The obverse shows a well-known motif, Stockholm City Hall, Ragnar Östberg's architectural masterpiece, which was inaugurated in 1923.
The reverse shows Stockholm's oldest seal, dating back to the 1280s. The seal depicts a wall with two towers and pinnacles, it is a typical city seal with a castle motif. Similar seals can be found in many parts of Europe. However, the seal on the jubilee coin does not provide a realistic picture of a city in the 13th century.

The price of the coin was set at SEK 250.
The artist is Bo Thorén, who has previously designed numerous medals and commemorative coins.
The coin was minted by Nordic Coin AB Svenska Myntverket in Eskilstuna.
The obverse shows a well-known motif, Stockholm City Hall, Ragnar Östberg's architectural masterpiece, which was inaugurated in 1923.
The reverse shows a seal with three towers and a castle gate. The seal dates back to 1326 and was last used in 1607, when the facial portrait of Saint Erik, dating back to 1376, finally replaced the old seal.

The portrait on the obverse is based on the portrait on the Nobel prize medals made in 1901/02. Legend: NOBELPRISETS HUNDRAÅRSJUBILEUM (ONE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NOBEL PRIZE).
The reverse portrays humanity, antiquated, seated on a podium containing the Swedish national coat of arms. She is holding a copy of Alfred Nobel's will in one hand. The other hand holds a laurel wreath raised in salute to the memory of Nobel. Legend: SVERIGE/2000/KR/2001.

The artist is Philip Nathan, leading engraver of coins and medals from Surrey, England. This was the first time since the 1740s that a foreign artist had been responsible for designing a Swedish coin. the coin was minted at AB Tumba Bruk Myntverket, Eskilstuna.
The obverse carries a portrait of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia in profile. To the right of the portrait is the text "KONUNG CARL XVI GUSTAF" (King Carl XVI Gustaf) and to the left the text "DROTTNING SILVIA" (Queen Silvia). Also to the right of the portrait are the artist's initials, PN. This is all contained within an outer ring comprised of small squares.
The reverse bears the greater national coat of arms and beneath it the sign of the Order of the Seraphim. the right, beneath the coat of arms, is the letter E (for Eskilstuna) showing where the coin was struck and to the left is the first letter in the surname of the Governor of the Riksbank, B (for Bäckström). Beneath is the text "SVERIGE 1976/19 JUNI/2001" (Sweden 1976/19 June/2001) and "200 KR" (SEK 200). This is all contained within an outer ring comprised of small squares.
