How do we use cookies?

At our websites we use cookies for our visitors. They are used to collect both anonymised statistics about the number of visitors to different parts of the website, as well as user data such as operating systems, web browsers and screen resolutions. This information enables us to improve and optimise our website.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that the website you are visiting asks to save on your computer. This allows the website to recognise you on your next visit. Only a small amount of text is saved in the file so that it cannot be traced back to you. There are two types of cookie, temporary (session cookies) and permanent. A temporary cookie disappears as soon as you close your browser while a permanent one is saved for a longer time and has a pre-determined expiry date on which it is automatically erased.

Can I switch cookies off?

In your browser's settings, you can prevent cookies from being saved on your computer when you visit a website (for more information, see the Help section or equivalent in your web browser). You can also remove existing cookies. If you choose to block cookies, however, the website may not function quite as well.
