Banks lowered lending rates 0.1 percentage points

The Riksbank’s quarterly survey of interest rates set by banks and housing intermediaries at end June 2000 shows that in the second quarter the banks lowered lending rates by an average of 0.1 percentage point, while the average deposit rate was unchanged. The average level of bank lending rates was 5.7 per cent, while the level of deposit rates was 2.0 per cent, giving a spread of 3.7 percentage points, which is 0.1 percentage point less than for 2000 Q1 . In 2000 Q2 the Riksbank’s repo rate was unchanged at 3.75 per cent, while the six-month T-bill rate declined 0.1 percentage point.

 

The house mortgage institutions raised their variable lending rates by an average of 0.2 percentage points to 4.8 per cent. The rates for their total loan stock averaged 6.0 per cent, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points.
