Riksdag Committee on Finance has appointed monetary policy evaluators

The Riksdag Committee on Finance has appointed Professor Charles Goodhart and Professor Jean-Charles Rochet to evaluate the Riksbank's monetary policy and work on financial stability 2005-2010.

 

The evaluation, which is to be presented in autumn 2011, is the Committee's second external evaluation of monetary policy. The first one, which was published in 2006, was carried out by Professor Francesco Giavazzi and Professor Frederic Mishkin and covered the period 1995-2005. The Riksdag Committee on Finance has previously decided that an independent and external evaluation of monetary policy shall be made every fourth year, as a complement to the Committee's own annual evaluations.

 

Charles Goodhart is professor emeritus at the London School of Economics (LSE) and head of the research area Regulation and Financial Stability at the LSE Financial Markets Group Research Centre. Jean-Charles Rochet is Professor of Mathematics and Economics at the Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) and is currently also a professor at the Swiss Banking Institute at the University of Zurich.
