Restricted Monetary Policy Counterparties
The Riksbank decided in connection with the financial turbulence 2007-2010 to introduce a possibility for credit institutions with a registered office in Sweden to take part in some of the Riksbank's facilities without being participants in RIX, the Riksbank’s system for large-value payments. These institutions were called Restricted Monetary Policy Counterparties and was described as below.
The facilities in which the Restricted Monetary Policy Counterparties can participate are
- Programmes for credit in SEK with a variable interest rate (with the same collateral as for credit in RIX)
- Programmes for credit in SEK with a variable interest rate with commercial paper as collateral
- SEK loans at a fixed interest rate for which bids must be submitted on 14 September 2009
- Purchase of Riksbank Certificates
Restrict Monetary Policy Counterparties will be required to pay an entry fee and a monthly fee.
The Terms and Conditions for RIX and Monetary Policy Instruments apply to Restricted Monetary Policy Counterparties.
Instructions on what an application to become a Restricted Monetary Policy Counterparty should contain can be found in Annex H9, Instructions for Application to become a Counterparty.
A special information document has been produced, which also describes how to contact the Riksbank to obtain further information.
