The Riksbank wants Selma, Jenny and Gustav!

Date

There is now only one month left until the older 20-krona, 50-krona and 1,000-krona banknotes become invalid and there are still banknotes to a value of SEK 2.6 billion in circulation. The Riksbank is therefore now putting up “wanted” posters for the missing banknotes.

Since October 2015, the Riksbank has received banknotes to a value of SEK 4.9 billion. But the Swedish people are still holding on to SEK 2.6 billion, or 57 million banknotes.

The Riksbank is therefore starting a "Wanted!" campaign. Over the coming weeks the campaign will be visible on huge posters, in newspapers and in digital channels.

"We want to encourage everyone in Sweden to pay with their banknotes or to deposit them in their bank account, no later than 30 June. We hope that the "Wanted!" message will be a reminder to everyone to look in their wallets and other places where they may have put older banknotes," says Ann-Leena Mikiver, Director of Communications at the Riksbank.

If you still have banknotes after 30 June 2016, you can deposit them into a bank
account until 31 August 2016.
