Banknote and coin changeover – important dates in 2016

In 2016, three banknotes will become invalid and two new ones will be released - and then it will be time to roll out the new coins.
Banknotes invalid after 30 June 2016
After 30 June 2016, the older versions of the 20, 50 and 1,000-krona banknotes will become invalid. After this it will be possible to redeem them at a bank for another two months, up to and including 31 August 2016.
New banknotes and coins in October 2016
In October 2016, the new 100 and 500 krona banknotes and the 1, 2 and 5 kro-na coins will be released. The older versions will become invalid after 30 June 2017. The 10-krona coin will be left unchanged and is not affected by the changeover.
