Riksbank extends eligible counterparties

Date

Credit institutions with a registered office in Sweden will in future be able to apply to become restricted counterparties to the Riksbank. The purpose of this is to enable more institutions to be able to use some of the Riksbank's loan facilities.

The Riksbank has been supplying loans to facilitate the banks’ financing and the functioning of the markets since the beginning of October 2008. As a supplement to the measures taken so far the Riksbank has decided to make it possible for more institutions to become counterparties to the Riksbank.

The terms for using the Riksbank’s loan facilities will be the same as those applying for existing counterparties, which includes the same collateral requirements.

The Riksbank will return to this question later in the month with more detailed information on the terms for becoming a restricted counterparty, on the charges and on the loan facilities which will be made available to restricted counterparties.
