af Jochnick: Current monetary policy
On Thursday, First Deputy Governor Kerstin af Jochnick visits Malmö, where she holds a presentation on the economic situation and the most recent monetary policy decision at the Business Arena.
Ms af Jochnick talks about the importance of safeguarding the inflation target and how the expansionary monetary policy is contributing to inflation now rising. She points out that the inflation target acts as a benchmark for expectations in the economy, and thereby lays the foundations for efficient price-setting and wage formation. She also says that the Riksbank still has a good preparedness to do more if this is necessary to ensure that inflation continues rising and attains the target.
When the Monetary Policy Reports are published in the spring and autumn, members of the Executive Board visit different areas in Sweden and present the monetary policy decisions. The members then hold speeches and meet representatives of the business sector, local government, media and colleges in the area.
