Ekholm: Monetary policy and the exchange rate
Ms Ekholm began by describing the background to the monetary policy decision made by the Executive Board of the Riksbank on 15 December last year and how she viewed the economic situation. The major part of her speech concerned the Riksbank’s assessment of the future development of the krona exchange rate. Ms Ekholm discussed the role played by the exchange rate in a small, open economy like Sweden’s and the difficulties in forecasting the exchange rate.
