Exchange money for a new 200-krona banknote at the Riksbank on 1 October

On 1 October the Riksbank will open its doors to the public. From 1 October 2015 it will be possible to pay with the new 20-, 50- 200- and 1,000-krona banknotes. Between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. that same day, members of the public will be able to exchange money for the new 200-krona banknote at the Riksbank and then browse an exhibition about the new banknotes.

Each person may exchange money for one 200-krona banknote. Payment is made in cash, ideally using the exact amount. It will not be possible to pay with a card.

 

"We want to highlight our launch of the banknote and coin changeover, so we are inviting the public to come to the bank where they will get the chance to exchange money for a new 200-krona note. They can also browse the six banknote exhibitions that we have now put together here at the Riksbank. We also have staff on site who can answer any questions about banknotes and coins," says Governor of the Riksbank Stefan Ingves.

Exchange & banknote exhibition

Each person may exchange money for one 200-krona banknote each. To ensure as many people as possible are able to exchange their money, we ask you to please pay using the exact amount. The Riksbank will be open for exchanging money on Thursday 1 October between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Brunkebergstorg 11 in Stockholm. The banknote exhibition has the same opening hours. For security reasons, those visiting the banknote exhibition will need to show bags and other personal items.

Press conference on the same day

A press conference with the Governor of the Riksbank, Stefan Ingves, and Mårten Gomer, Technical Expert at the Riksbank will be held on the same day at 9:30 a.m. at the Riksbank. Press cards must be shown. The press conference will be broadcast live on the Riksbank's website, www.riksbank.se, where it will also be available to view afterwards.
