The General Council of the Riksbank has granted Karolina Ekholm's request to be relieved of her post as she has been appointed State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance under Magdalena Andersson. This means she will now leave her post as Deputy Governor of the Riksbank almost six months before the end of her term of office on 15 march 2015.
"We have appreciated Karolina Ekholm's excellent analytical work, great expertise and desire to develop the activities of the Riksbank," say the Chairman of the General Council, Johan Gernandt, and Vice Chairman Sven-Erik Österberg in a joint statement.
"Working at the Riksbank has been extremely instructive and interesting and I am really going to miss all the fantastic staff there. However, it is also feels very exciting to do something new and to have the opportunity to work with important issues in the field of fiscal policy," says Karolina Ekholm.
The task of appointing a successor to Karolina Ekholm will fall to the new General Council of the Riksbank, which is expected to be appointed in October.
