Statistics Sweden takes over production of the Riksbank's financial market statistics

According to an agreement between the Riksbank and Statistics Sweden (SCB), which was signed in November 2001, SCB is commissioned by the Riksbank to collect, produce and publish the Riksbank's financial market statistics. Financial market statistics mainly comprise balance sheet statistics regarding credit institutions and similar, including data on lending, deposits and the money supply, as well as some securities statistics. SCB will take over production of these statistics with effect from today, which means that its first publication of data will refer to the month of March and the first quarter of 2003, respectively.

The purpose of this changeover is to enable the Riksbank to focus on its core business and at the same time contribute to a more efficient statistics production in society in general. By cooperating with SCB in this field, the Riksbank expects to obtain better quality financial market statistics in a more efficient manner, which will benefit both users of the statistics and the companies reporting data.

The statistics will be published on SCB's website. The Riksbank's website will contain only a link to this site. In connection with SCB taking over the production of the financial market statistics, there will be a return to the normal publication calendar, subject to the risk of some changeover problems arising.
