Audit report on Riksbank's internal controls

The General Council's Audit Unit has presented a report on the Riksbank's internal controls, as part of its routine examinations. The report was presented to the General Council and the Executive Board on 22 October 2003 and is a public document. There has been media interest in this report, which is available in Swedish on the Riksbank's website, http://www.riksbank.se/.

General Council Chairman Jan Bergqvist commented, "This report is part of the auditors' routine examinations of the Riksbank's operations. The overall assessment is that the internal controls are good, but the report also raises a number of questions regarding the Riksbank's methods of working. The Executive Board of the Riksbank has been actively working on these questions for the past year now."

"The General Council will discuss the report again at the beginning of next year after receiving the Executive Board's comments," continued Mr Bergqvist.
