The banks raised the deposit rate by 0.1 percentage points while the lending rate remained unchanged in Q2 2001
The Riksbank's quarterly survey of the banks' and mortgage institutions' average interest rates as of 30 June 2001 indicates that the banks raised their deposit rates by an average of 0.1 percentage points, while their lending rates remained unchanged during the second quarter of 2001. The average deposit rate was 2.3 per cent and the average lending rate was 5.8 per cent. The difference between the deposit and lending rates was 3.6 percentage points (rounded off). The Riksbank's repo rate remained unchanged at 4.0 per cent during the second quarter of 2001, while the rate on 6-month treasury bills rose by 0.5 percentage points.
The mortgage institutions raised the variable new lending rate by an average of 0.1 percentage points to 5.0 per cent. Meanwhile, the interest rate on the mortgage institutions' total outstanding loan volume fell by 0.1 percentage points (rounded off) to 5.8 per cent during the second quarter 2001.
