No disruptions in millennium transition

During New Year’s Day the Riksbank has controlled and tested the RIX payment system, the operation of the head office in Stockholm and the internal IT systems. The tests have been performed without giving any signs to date of disruptions that would be liable to affect the functioning of Sweden’s financial system.

In other parts of the Swedish financial sector, the reports received by the Riksbank indicate that the 2000 transition has proceeded so far without any disturbances.

‘A lot of time has been spent on preparations and it has paid off well. It has, not least, provided experience of matters to do with readiness that will be useful for the Riksbank and participants in the financial markets in the future,’ Michael Wallin, the Riksbank’s Head of Information, says in a comment.
