Hessius: Good times make demands
‘The economic situation in Sweden today is very favourable and it is partly thanks to a consistent fiscal and monetary policy, focused on macro economic stability, that we have got this far. But it would be dangerous to sit back and dwell on how we can spend the gains that have been achieved. Instead we should devote our energy to solving remaining structural problems. If we succeed, it is more likely that what may now appear to be one-off effects will become permanent.’
These remarks by Deputy Governor Kerstin Hessius were made during an address to Pressens Pensionskassa today, Monday.
‘It is only a fortnight or so since the latest monetary policy meeting and I see no reason to revise the opinion that is expressed in the minutes of that meeting, which are being published today,’ Kerstin Hessius said.
