Final report on the Riksbank's wartime acquisition of gold
The independent enquiry into the Riksbank's acquisition of gold during World War II will be presenting its final report to the Riksbank this week.
The enquiry, led by Jan Heuman, former Supreme Court Justice, has investigated the contents of the Riksbank's archives as regards acquisitions of gold from Nazi Germany.
The Riksbank will then hand over the report, without further comment, to the Commission appointed by the Government to consider Jewish assets in Sweden at the time of World War II.
It was in December 1996 that the Riksbank decided to set up an independent enquiry in order to achieve as much clarity as possible about circumstances concerning the Bank's acquisition of gold from Nazi Germany.
A press conference will be held tomorrow, Wednesday December 17, in Swedish at 10 a.m. and in English at 11.30 a.m., at Myntkabinettet, 6 Slottsbacken. The press conference in Swedish will be attended by Jan Heuman, Harry Flam, professor of international economics and Ingvar Pramhäll, authorized public accountant. The press conference in English will be attended by Harry Flam.
