The Riksbank contributes to IMF’s lending to low-income countries

Date

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Riksbank have signed an agreement enabling the Riksbank to lend the equivalent of SEK 6.2 billion (SDR 500 million) to the IMF, which will in turn provide loans to low-income countries under the IMF’s Poverty Reduction and Growth Trust (PRGT). The agreement started to apply on 17 November.

The PRGT is the IMF's lending facility for low-income countries and includes 69 countries. This is the first time that Sweden has contributed loan resources to the PRGT.
