Deputy Governor Villy Bergström’s comment on his decision to step down

Date

“I am now 67 and feel that it is time to call it a day. I want to have time for other things too, such as the completion of a book project that I have been working on for a long while but also hunting and forestry,” says Mr Bergström.

“My time at the Bank has been the best of my working life. The Riksbank is a high-competence organisation, and not just in my own field, economics. It is strange but also very pleasing that my most enjoyable years have come at the end of my working life. The Riksbank is united around explicit objectives and everyone works together in an intellectual environment that is both open and challenging. It has always been easy to go to work and I will miss it,” says Mr Bergström.
