Christina Nordh Berntsson new head of international secretariat

Today the Riksbank has appointed Christina Nordh Berntsson to head its International Secretariat. In this capacity Ms. Nordh Berntsson will be responsible for the coordination in the Riksbank of matters to do with EU and EMU, as well as for the Riksbank's contacts with the International Monetary Fund.

Ms. Nordh Berntsson is currently head of the division for EU economic and monetary cooperation in the Economics Department of the Riksbank. She is also the alternate for Mr. Lars Heikensten, Deputy Governor of the Riksbank, on the EU's Monetary Committee.

Ms. Nordh Berntsson has a master's degree in Economics and has worked in the Riksbank since 1991. She had leave of absence in 1996 to be secretary to the Swedish Government Commission on EMU, headed by Professor Lars Calmfors.

Ms. Nordh Berntsson is to be head of the International Secretariat as of February 1st.
