The financial crisis has raised a number of issues in Sweden and abroad regarding the role of the central banks and their mandate for safeguarding financial stability. The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has today published the report “Central bank governance and financial stability”, which highlights some of these issues. The report has been produced by a study group at the BIS that consists of representatives of various central banks and is chaired by the Governor of the Riksbank, Stefan Ingves.
