The Riksbank enlarge the eligible counterparties

Date

The Riksbank decided on 2 April 2009 to enlarge the eligible counterparties by allowing credit institutions with a registered office in Sweden to take part in some of the Riksbank’s facilities. The Riksbank has now determined the more detailed conditions for these new counterparties, which will be termed Restricted Monetary Policy Counterparties. The conditions are found in the Conditions for RIX and Monetary Policy Instruments.

The Restricted Monetary Policy Counterparties can participate in the Riksbank’s two programmes for credit in Swedish kronor with a variable interest rate, both in the programme with the same collateral as required for credit in RIX and the programme with commercial paper as collateral. The Restricted Monetary Policy Counterparties can also purchase Riksbank Certificates in the Riksbank’s issues.

The conditions for the two credit programmes and the sales terms for Riksbank Certificates have been marginally altered to enable the new counterparty category to participate.
