Together with the Toronto Centre, the World Bank, Sida (the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) and First Initiative, the Riksbank is running a seminar this week on how to handle bank problems. The participants include managers from central banks and financial supervisory authorities in 21 developing countries. The programme for the week also includes a crisis management exercise.
Effective financial supervision is essential. The Riksbank has therefore supported and continues to support the work of the Toronto Centre in various ways. The Governor and other staff of the Riksbank lecture on Sweden's experience of banking and financial crises as part of the Toronto Centre's seminars.
