Riksbankens kvartalstidskrift Penning- och valutapolitik behandlar ämnen på riksbanksnära områden. I dag publiceras årets första nummer som innehåller tre artiklar: 

Den offentliga sektorns strukturella sparande

I den första artikeln redogör Robert Boije, rådgivare på Riksbankens avdelning för penningpolitik, för hur den offentliga sektorns strukturella sparande kan beräknas. Utifrån en analys genomförd med flera olika metoder görs bedömningen att om överskottsmålet skall klaras är det strukturella sparandet i Sverige för närvarande för lågt.

 

The peaks and troughs of the Stability and Growth Pact

The practical application of the EU budgetary framework has proved to be turbulent in recent years. In his article, Jonas Fischer working at the International Department, outlines the phases of the Pact and the Maastricht budgetary rules so far and presents some of the main issues and arguments in the debate on the Pact and indicates some areas that are likely to appear in a discussion on the future of the framework. Lessons from the past: What can we learn from the history of centralized wage bargaining?

The rise and fall of centralized wage bargaining in Sweden has been the subject of much discussion and debate. The authors, Michelle Alexopoulos and Jon Cohen at the University of Toronto, review the history of Sweden's experience with centralized wage determination. History would seem to suggest that severe compression of inter-occupational wage differentials may result in a number of undesirable and unintended consequences.
