Césaire Meh

Bild på Césaire MehCésaire Meh was appointed Deputy Chief of the Bank of Canada's Financial Stability Department (FSD) in October 2013. He is responsible for the Systemic Risk Assessment and Regulatory Policy Divisions and he is the Senior Officer in FSD overseeing the Bank of Canada's semi-annual Financial System Review. His research includes the implications of bank capital for the macroeconomy, the nexus between monetary policy and financial stability, and the resolution of banks. He is currently the Bank of Canada's representative in the Macroprudential Supervision Group of the Basel Committee where he chairs the working group on the implementation of the Basel III countercyclical capital buffer.

Born in Ivory Coast, Mr. Meh holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Economics from Université Laval. Mr. Meh joined the Bank in 2001 as an economist and has held various senior positions within the Bank including Research Director in the Canadian Economic Analysis Department and Director in Financial stability Department.
