Rules and regulations for asset management

Since 2006, the Riksbank has had an integrated body of rules and regulations for asset management as a whole – a financial risk policy. These rules and regulations set out the overall framework for the financial risk that the Riksbank is prepared to take in its asset management. The policy is complemented by the Executive Board's regulations for liquidity risk, credit risk and market risk, as well as its investment regulations The rules and regulations are determined by the Executive Board on an annual basis.

Every year, the Executive Board also decides on an investment policy for asset management. Among other matters, this investment policy regulates the size of the gold reserve and how many US dollars and euros the foreign currency reserve is to include.
