Sveriges Riksbank, 10 years as an independent central bank

On Friday 11 September 2009 the Riksbank organised a conference to celebrate the fact that it is ten years since the Riksbank was formally granted independence. The conference was about how the Riksbank has developed as an authority since 1999 and how the Riksbank has become one of the most open central banks in the world.

Three articles were specially written to mark this event. These were presented and discussed at the conference. The conference concluded with a panel debate on the theme "How have decision-making, communication and accountability been affected with regard to the Riksbank's areas of responsibility – monetary policy and financial stability?" The panel consisted of current and previous governors and deputy governors of the Riksbank, members of the General Council of the Riksbank and members of the Riksdag (Swedish parliament) Committee on Finance.
